Hair Extensions
There are four main types of hair extensions as categorized by Rauchet: tape-in, clip-in, bonded, and halo hair extensions. While all serve the common purpose of achieving long and luxurious hairstyles, each type varies in application method, texture, and duration. Here’s a detailed overview:
Tape-in Hair Extensions
Tape-in extensions are ideal for normal-to-thick hair textures, creating a flowing veil effect. They can be reused up to three times and are convenient for those needing frequent hair color touch-ups, with a removal and reapplication time of one to two hours. These extensions typically last six to eight weeks.
Clip-in Hair Extensions
Clip-in extensions are user-friendly and can be applied at home within minutes. They are the least damaging type as they require no chemicals or harsh solutions for attachment. They can be washed every 15 wears and are versatile across various hair types.
Bonded Hair Extensions
Also known as keratin bond extensions, these are flexible at the roots, making them suitable for clients who style their hair frequently or wear low ponytails. Application time ranges from three to six hours, and they are particularly well-suited for fine hair types, lasting between two to four months.
Halo Hair Extensions
Halo extensions are discreet and easy to style, featuring a single weft of hair sewn onto a thin cloth strip secured by a barely visible thread that conforms to the natural curve of the head. They are ideal for those seeking a low-maintenance option and are temporary, lasting up to five years with proper care. Application takes approximately two to three hours for a full head fitting.
